Baseline Testing

The ten-test Quest for 180 benchmark battery — mobility, stability, power, rotation, strength and speed. Reproducible under the same conditions, retested every six weeks.

How this works: log a new testing session below, split across two days exactly as designed — Day 1 (Movement + Power) and Day 2 (Speed + Strength) — so strength testing doesn't contaminate your power and speed numbers. Everything syncs automatically across every device you're signed into. Use Export to back up your data as a file, or Import to restore it.

Day 1 · Movement + Power

Mobility, stability, glute function, rotary power

Hip IR/ER → ankle → thoracic → glute bridge → single-leg balance → broad jump → rotational medicine-ball throw → anti-rotation.

Hip internal & external rotation

Kolby starts here — restricted hip movement affects loading, rotation and kinetic-chain compensation.

Thoracic rotation

Tested seated, knees together, so the pelvis can't contribute — isolates the thoracic spine.

Foot stability, ankle mobility, knee stability and hip function are all connected.

Single-leg glute bridge

Where you feel it matters more than repetitions — hamstring-dominant feel is a real finding, not a pass.

Single-leg balance

The basic chassis test — exposes foot, ankle, knee, hip and trunk rather than letting the stronger side compensate.

Standing broad jump

Repeatable lower-body power benchmark using nothing more than a tape measure. 3 warm-up + 3 maximal jumps, full recovery between.

Rotational medicine-ball throw

One of the most important tests in the battery — a baseline directly related to swinging faster. Same ball every test. 3 attempts each direction.

Anti-rotation — Pallof hold

Same band, same anchor point, same standing position every time. Cap at 30s — once comfortable both sides, increase resistance rather than duration.

Day 2 · Speed + Strength

Cruising speed, maximum speed, trap-bar strength

Standardised warm-up → cruising SpeedStick test → maximum-speed SpeedStick test → long recovery → trap-bar 5RM.

Trap-bar strength

Testing the cannon — not a 1RM. Use a 3RM or 5RM (5RM if you haven't done regular heavy trap-bar work recently). Stop when technique deteriorates.

Club speed — the most important test

All speed swings are taken with SpeedSticks, not a driver and ball — so this is club speed only. Two separate benchmarks: maximum speed (where the ceiling is) and cruising speed (the real golfing goal — a normal, committed swing).

A. Maximum speed — 3 sets × 5 swings, maximum intent, 60–90s between swings, 3–5 min between sets.

B. Cruising speed — 10 normal, committed swings. The swing you'd take onto the course. Don't chase the radar.
